Easy DIY Garden Gnome Pick

I’ve been having a great time making different DIY decorations for my yard and garden this year. I recently made this DIY garden gnome pick, and wanted to share how I created it with you! You can stake them into your flower pots for a cute decor piece!

To start, I took a 6″x6″ piece of fabric and folded it in half, with the back of the fabric facing the outside. I then took my rotator cutting tool and cut a curved piece from the fabric.

I placed a thin line of glue along the edge of the bottom of the fabric and folded it in, so that it would create a finished look when I flipped the hat right side out.

I then folded the fabric in half again, and put glue along the lengthwise edge, then glued the ends of the fabric together to make a seam for the hat. Make sure your fabric is still inside out!

Once the glue cooled, I turned the hat right side out. The fabric made such a cute gnome hat!

I took a small piece of faux fur and placed it upside down. I took an Easter egg cutout I had bought at Dollar Tree, and placed it onto the fur. Then I cut a “V” shape out of the fur.

I flipped the egg over and put hot glue halfway down on it, and placed the fur onto the hot glue. Make sure the fur is facing outward when you glue it on.

Flipping the egg back over, I put hot glue on the back of it and wrapped the edges of the faux fur onto it, adhering it into place, then flipped it back over. The project is starting to look like a cute gnome, how exciting!

Then next step I did was put the hat onto it, attaching it all around with hot glue. Make sure when you do this step, that the seam of the hat is facing the back!

I took a wood bead and painted it. Once it was dry, I attached it onto the front, in the center right where the hat and beard meet.

The next step I did was take a paint stick and hot glue it onto the back of the gnomes head. This makes the pick part that you stake down into the flower pot. If you wanted, you could also paint the paint stick, but I chose to leave mine it’s original color.

I think he makes an adorable addition to my garden decor. I placed him in a flower pot on my front porch. He looks pretty happy there!

I hope you enjoy creating this project as much as I did! If you make an easy DIY garden gnome of your own, make sure to share a photo of it in my creative community on Facebook. I’d love to see it!

I've only been watching a couple of months but I always look forward to her crafts and going shopping with her. She lets you know when something isn't going as planned but always improvises. I have enjoyed a renewal in my crafting and she is always so helpful. Thank you Annie!
