How To Create The Easy DIY Pumpkin:
The first thing I did to create the Easy DIY Pumpkin was lightly coating the cutting board I got at Dollar Tree and rectangle wood blank, also purchased at Dollar Tree, with Mod Podge. I then let it dry completely, and I applied this first because the Mod Podge will help the paint adhere to the surface better.
Having Fun Blending
Next, I painted the cutting board and wood with Caribbean Apple Barrel paint. It’s ok if it seems a bit translucent, we will be blending additional colors over it. You could pick different fall paint colors if you want, and these colors were my personal preference. Just have fun with it! Like I said, let’s make an Easy DIY pumpkin.
Getting That Desired Look
After that layer was dry, apply Jack-O-Lantern Apple Barrel paint on various small areas. Dipping my paintbrush in water helps to thin out the paint and makes it easier to blend and control the color until I achieve the desired look. This Easy DIY Pumpkin is starting to come together.
Making The Colors Pop
Deciding to add Sunny Day Apple Barrel paint to make the colors pop. Dipping my paintbrush in water to help thin the paint and make it easier to blend. The brighter pops of color added depth and dimension to an otherwise flat surface. Don’t worry if you put too much of one color; you can always add more of another color and blend it to your liking. Then let the paint dry completely. This Easy DIY Pumpkin is coming to life!
Using My Favorite Tools Of The Trade
Using my Gorilla Hot Glue Gun, which I love, I ran a bead of Hot Gorilla Glue along the bottom edge of the cutting board. Centering the cutting board in the middle of the rectangle wood blank, I joined both pieces and held them until the glue was firm which should only take a few seconds until the Gorilla Hot Glue begins to cool or harden. My Easy DIY Pumpkin is now taking shape.
Creating The Pumpkin Stem
After my Gorilla Hot Glue was set, it was time to add a stem. Wanting a cute stem for my Easy DIY Pumpkin, a birch stem was a perfect choice. Using my Gorilla Hot Glue Gun and Gorilla Glue Sticks, I glued the birch stem on the top center of the cutting board.
Adding Fall Florals
This pumpkin is turning out so cute, but more color is needed for my Easy Diy Pumpkin. I chose fall florals and leaves to need more colors to make this a fall project. After arranging my chosen fall florals and leaves, I glued them down using my Gorilla Hot Glue Gun and Gorilla Glue Sticks. The added colors make it pop!
