Cute Alliums
I created another cute project for my garden decor collection, Alliums, and I want to share with you how I made these. There was an area out front in my flower bed where I wanted to add pops of color, and these Alliums were a perfect fit. They’re so simple and fun to make!
Alliums Supplies:
- Drill
- 1/4″ Drill Bit
- 1 1/2″ Screws or Longer
- Plastic Baseball
- Dowel Rod
- Spray paint color of your choice
- Scissors
- Gorilla Hot Glue Gun
- Glue Sticks
- Screwdriver

Getting Started On The Alliums
I first took a pair of scissors and poked some pilot holes in different areas around the plastic baseball. These holes make it easy to put the screws in.
Forming the Alliums
Then I took the screws and twisted them into the pilot holes. Don’t worry if you make a hole too big; just put a dab of hot glue on the spot and turn the screw into the hole.
Making The Alliums Stem
Once I had all the screws I wanted, I took the drill bit and made a giant hole in the bottom center of the baseball. You can use a screwdriver if you don’t have a drill and bit.
I put hot glue on one end of a dowel rod and inserted it into the center hole I made. I let it sit for a minute while the hot glue cooled and hardened.
Giving The Alliums Color
I took a cardboard box and the spray paint I was using outside where I didn’t have to worry about the spray paint fumes. I put the baseball side of the project down into the box and sprayed the paint on, making sure to coat it thoroughly. Once the paint dried, I made a couple more and then took them out to my flower bed and placed them standing on the ground. You could paint the dowel rod if you wanted, but I decided to leave mine natural.
